Nancy Messina

PLEASE ALLOW ME TO introduce myself—my name is Nancy Messina, an Italian migrant. My first name translated in Italian is Nunzia and my maiden surname is Vittorino. I was born in Mezzojuso, Province of Palermo, Sicily, Italy in 1949. My family migrated to Australia in 1956, and I became an Australian citizen when my parents were naturalised in 1959 as I was under the age of twelve. I still live in Australia today.

I have been known as Nancy Messina since 1970 when I married my loving late husband, Marco Messina. I am the eldest daughter of Antonino and Caterina Vittorino, and I am the first niece born in the Musso family.
